Destination: Jammu-Srinagar-Sonmarg-Baltaal- Pehalgawn-Katra
The temple is a popular yatra destination for Hindus – about Four lake people visit during the 45-day season around the festival of Shravani Mela in July-August, coinciding with the Hindu holy month of Shraavana.
The beginning of the annual pilgrimage, called Amarnath Yatra, to the Himalayan cave shrine is marked by ‘pratham pujan’ to invoke the blessings of Shri Amarnathji.
Devotees generally take the 42 km pilgrimage on foot from the town of Pahalgam, about 96 km from Srinagar, and cover the journey in four to five days. There are two alternate routes to the temple: the longer and more traditional path from Srinagar, and the shorter route from the town of Baltal. Some devotees, particularly the elderly, also ride on horse-back to make the journey. Those who so wish and have the money can now make the journey by helicopter.
Day 1: Jammu
Arrival from Railway Station/Air Port, check in hotel. Overnight stay at hotel
Day 2: Jammu – Srinagar (300 km)
Arrival in Srinagar from Jammu (300 km.) Local sightseeing: Shalimar, Chashme-Shahi, Mughal gardens, Dal Lake, Shankarachary Hill & “Shikara” Boating.
Day 3: Srinagar -Sonmarg- Baltaal (174 km)
After breakfast Visit to beautiful “Vihardham” on the way of shrinagar to sonmerg and then Baltaal. Arrival to Baltal from Shrinagar. (174 km.) To Amarnath Cave from here by horse/doli/walking. (own exp). (Night stay in tents, sharing adjustment). Night stay at baltaal
Day 4: Baltaal – Amarnath -Baltaal (30 km)
After taking glimpse of holy shivling of snow On the 13,500 ft. height back to Baltal. (night stay) 30 km.
Day 5: Baltaal -Srinagar
In the morning depart to Srinagar.Arrive Srinagar night stay at Srinagar
Day 6: Srinagar – Pahelgawn (100km)
In the morning take breakfast depart to Pahelgawn.A place which is situated on the shone of river Lidar in the midst of mountain range. Night stay Pahelgawn.
Day 7: Pahelgawn -Katra (255km)
After breakfast go to Katra from Pahelgawn. Katra arrival and Night stay Katra
Day 8: Katra – Veshnodevi -Katra
After Breakfast to Mata Vishno Devi Temple for darshan.You take horse/doli (own exp) or walking (13 km.) & return back in the evening to hotel for overnight stay.
Day 9: Katra -Jammu (50 km)
Leave from katra to Jammu (50 km) .Transfer to Railway Station/Air Port an Ending Happy Journy.
